Cooper DeJean to miss 2024 NFL combine

Bad news Iowa fans, defensive back Cooper DeJean will not be participating in the upcoming NFL combine.

There was a hope amongst fan bases, both Iowa and prospective NFL fan bases, that DeJean would be ready to go for the NFL combine at the end of February.

Unfortunately, the unanimous All-American defensive back just isn’t quite ready to return to action. The Athletic’s NFL draft analyst Dane Brugler reported on Thursday that DeJean will not participate in the combine in Indianapolis as he’s still working his way back from a leg injury that he sustained late in the 2023 college football season.

As Brugler said, this is a real bummer. DeJean would have absolutely blown up the combine. With all eyes on him, this was a chance for him to break the stereotypes and really show just how freaky of an athlete he is.

Of course, all of who have watched Iowa football and are familiar with DeJean know how special of an athlete he is. Anyone who actually knows his game and has watched him on defense and special teams knows that he has the elite athleticism required for the NFL.

And that’s the good thing for DeJean. He will be able to heal up and work out with NFL teams closer to the draft, and that’s all he really needs to do. The combine can be a great tool for answering questions about player athleticism, and of course don’t forget about those interviews.
