CeeDee Lamb has developed into a Tier 1 receiver with the likes of Tyreek Hill, and Justin Jefferson. Brandon Cooks was a very good second option with over 650 yards and eight touchdowns, but behind them, the receiving core was underwhelming.
Michael Gallup is being paid like a top-two receiver in the league but didn’t even perform like a good back up. In 2021, Cedric Wilson put up 45 receptions for 602 yards and six touchdowns as a fourth receiver. This season, on one of the top offenses in the league, Gallup only had 418 yards and two scores on 34 receptions.
Other options included Jalen Tolbert, who had 268 yards and two touchdowns in 2023, and KaVontae Turpin who barely had over 100 yards and three scores. Dallas has enough on offense to just draft a player at receiver in the first two rounds of the draft and move forward, but a real all-in move could be to sign or trade for a receiver.
Mike Evans, Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Gabriel Davis, Tyler Boyd, Odell Beckham Jr., and Michael Pittman Jr. are all possible free agents this offseason. If Dallas signed one of these players to add to Lamb and Cooks, that would be an all-in move for the offense.
Last season Dallas added Cooks via a trade, and a Day-3 pick this offseason for a starting WR could be a big move as well. Keenan Allen, Hunter Renfrow, Diontae Johnson, Jerry Jeudy, Rondale Moore, Elijah Moore, Mike Williams, Jaylen Waddle, and Chris Godwin are all examples or receivers on one-year deals and a team could look to move on if they are worried about losing them for nothing in the offseason. Bringing in another impact WR could be what takes this team over the top.
