The Athletic links Jaylin Simpson to Atlanta Falcons

Five former Auburn players are participating in the 2024 NFL combine this week in Indianapolis, Indiana, including safety Jaylin Simpson.

Simpson, along with Nehemiah Pritchett and Marcus Harris, are expected to be late-round selections in this year’s NFL draft. The Athletic’s Josh Kendall pieced together an NFL draft big board earlier this week, and feels that Simpson could be a great fit for a local NFL franchise.

Kendall included Simpson in his Atlanta Falcons NFL draft big board, saying that Simpson could head to Atlanta in the late rounds.

This is not a strong safety draft, but the 6-foot, 178-pound Simpson brings enough versatility to make him valuable. He could play anywhere from deep safety to nickel and cornerback in a pinch.

Kendall is not the only writer who feels that Simpson could be a great fit. Falcons Wire’s Matt Urben has also included Simpson in his 50 potential Falcons draft targets to watch at 2024 Scouting Combine list. If the Falcons were to draft Simpson this year, it would provide a homecoming of sorts considering Simpson is from south Georgia.

The NFL combine continues through Monday, March 4. The NFL draft will take place April 25-27.
