Vikings Kevin O’Connell named one of league’s best by NFLPA survey

The second-annual NFLPA player survey results have arrived, and the Minnesota Vikings are getting some high praise from the league. In addition to being the second-ranked team overall in this year’s survey, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell was one of only three coaches to receive an A+ grade.

O’Connell joins Super Bowl champion coach Andy Reid of the Chiefs and Lions head coach Dan Campbell, who took Detroit to their first playoff appearance in more than 30 years and all the way to the NFC Championship Game.

According to the report, O’Connell ranked first overall with regards to his willingness to listen to the players in the locker room, and 98% of the players believe that O’Connell is efficient with their time, which placed him fifth overall among head coaches.

Those high marks for the second year in a row paint a clear picture of Minnesota being a great destination for players, which should bode well for the Vikings in free agency. Minnesota has a pair of high-profile free agents in Kirk Cousins and Danielle Hunter, and — at least according to the NFLPA survey — there’s few spots better than Minnesota for them.
