Wide receiver Mecole Hardman, current Chief and former Jet, is believed to have leaked the offensive game plans for games against the Chiefs and Eagles during his short stay in New York in the early part of the 2023 season, according to SNY’s Connor Hughes. The key words in the report, keep in mind, are “validated belief.” That doesn’t necessarily mean Hardman did leak the game plans but that teammates believe he did.
Yes, I’m told there was validated belief from the #Jets that WR Mecole Hardman, frustrated by his lack-of usage, leaked game plans to the opposition, as implied by several players (Sauce Gardner, Kenny Yeboah) today.

Two Jets players, cornerback Sauce Gardner and tight end Kenny Yeboah, implied such Wednesday, including a since-deleted tweet from Gardner.

Hardman caught all of one pass for six yards in five games with the Jets before being traded back to the Chiefs. This after signing with New York for $6.5 million as a free agent. Back with Kansas City, Hardman would go on to catch the Super Bowl-winning touchdown in overtime against the 49ers.
This would certainly be a wild story if it is in fact true. We knew Hardman was frustrated early on with his usage with the Jets and was beaten out by rookie free agent Xavier Gipson. This was even noted by punter Thomas Morstead.
Be careful getting information from disgruntled former employees. Getting beat out by a rookie free agent after being guaranteed millions of dollars is tough to deal with. Entitlement is a killer of opportunity. You have to earn it every year.

Hardman claims he never had any talks with the Chiefs before the trade and that the Jets did right by him sending him back to Kansas City.
Never had talks with KC before the trade, so we can CLEAR THAT UP! The Jets handled my trade on their own and did the right thing by sending me back to KC! https://t.co/W5A1uYXsM1
