Assessing Bucky Irving’s performance at the 2024 NFL Combine

The Oregon Ducks’ performances at the 2024 NFL Combine continued on Saturday afternoon with running backs, quarterbacks, and wide receivers hitting the field to go through drills and testing in front of NFL coaches and scouts.

Bucky Irving was the first of three Ducks to go on Saturday, and for the most part, he performed pretty well.

While to the average fan, Irving’s 40-yard dash numbers are going to look slow, straight-line speed is not what makes Irving such a dynamic runner. Rather, it is his quickness and elusiveness that is going to help him at the next level.

In the end, Irving received a solid combine score, with the tag of “good backup with the potential to turn into a starter,” according to NFL.com.

Here is a look at the final numbers from the NFL combine for Irving.

While his overall 40-time may not have been great, it was the quick burst and get-off time that looked quite a bit better for Irving, showing his ability to accelerate from the start.
