Cal Safety Looking To Become Sixth Golden Bear Drafted At Position In Last Five Years
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. โ Former California safety Patrick McMorris began his quest to become the sixth Cal safety selected in the NFL Draft over the last five years by participating in the 2024 NFL Combine. The list of Cal safeties selected in the last four NFL Drafts include Ashtyn Davis (New York Jets, 2020), Jaylinn Hawkins (Atlanta, 2020), Camryn Bynum (Minnesota, 2021), Elijah Hicks (Chicago, 2022) and Daniel Scott (Indianapolis, 2023).

McMorris was one of 25 safeties and 325 players overall invited to this year’s combine and posted 14 bench repetitions on Saturday to finish four days of exams, measurable testing, meetings, interviews, orientations and studies. On Friday, he went through an on-field work out with his fellow safeties and also participated in the vertical jump (31″) and broad jump (9’4″).
McMorris is expected to be among the participants when Cal hosts its annual Pro Day at California Memorial Stadium for former Golden Bears who are NFL prospects on Thursday, March 21.
