The Houston Roughnecks have opted to bring back DB Jeremiah Johnson, just days after releasing him in the wave of cuts that went down on Sunday.

It was surprising to have seen Jeremiah get cut in the first place. Johnson has played in the USFL for the past two seasons, with the Houston Gamblers.
In 2022, he saw some solid production, posting 22 tackles and an interception. Jeremiah ended up seeing a larger role in 2023, though, starting in all ten games. During that campaign, he totaled 32 tackles and an interception, and made a couple of clutch plays for Houston throughout the year.

Interestingly enough, Johnson also played with the XFL’s Roughnecks back in 2020. In 11 games, he had 11 tackles and a pick on Jordan Ta’amu in their week two matchup against St. Louis. Jeremiah is a spring football veteran, as he was a part of the AAF’s Salt Lake Stallions in 2019 as well.
