Steelers OC Arthur Smith talks with TE Brock Bowers at Georgia Pro Day

With playmakers galore coming out of Georgia in next month’s NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers are representing at UGA Pro Day.

According to Reese’s Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy, Pittsburgh has its full contingent on hand: General manager Omar Khan, head coach Mike Tomlin, defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.

Atlanta news reporter Maria Martin caught a glimpse of Smith chatting up tight end Brock Bowers.

Of course, merely talking with Bowers doesn’t make him a Pittsburgh Steeler, but it’s still interesting to consider. Neither Bowers nor Amarius Mims, both dealing with hamstring injuries, are participating, but they will have a separate workout on April 10, according to ESPN’s Jordan Reid.

The prolific pass-catcher led the team in receiving yards in all three seasons at Georgia and is the overwhelming favorite to go off the board first at the tight end position.

Tight end doesn’t really scream immediate need for Pittsburgh with Pat Freiermuth around. But Bowers draws comparisons to 49ers’ George Kittle, and who wouldn’t do their due diligence on that?

Even with Mims and Bowers not working out in Athens, there’s plenty of great talent that are including center Sedrick Van Pran, receiver Ladd McConkey and defensive backs Tykee Smith, Javon Bullard and Kamari Lassiter.
