In another array of moves, the Michigan Panthers claimed WR John Hightower, who was recently released by the DC Defenders. Additionally, the team has brought back TE Nick Guggemos – who was immediately placed on the injured reserve list.
It seems the @USFLPanthers aren’t done finding playmakers on offense. They have signed former Boise State WR John Hightower.
Hightower has NFL experience and was a 5th Rd pick by Philly in ’00. He was recently released by the Defenders on Sunday.

John Hightower joins a very talented wide receiver room, looking to crack the regular season roster after he was unable to do so in DC. John was an offseason signing for the Defenders, who most recently spent the 2023 NFL preseason with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Hightower began his college career at Hinds Community College, playing for two years there, totaling 509 yards and seven scores.
It wasn’t until his Boise State days that John really put himself on the map. He quickly became a starter, and ended up posting 1,447 yards and 14 touchdowns across two seasons.

From there, John Hightower was picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles. He saw some legitimate playing time during the 2020 NFL season, recording ten receptions for 167 yards.
Since then, though, Hightower has been searching to find his footing with a professional football team. Now, he’ll have an opportunity to do exactly that with the Michigan Panthers.
