One question for each position group

We know what we’re gonna get from Danny Stutsman. He’ll be one of the best linebackers in the nation in 2024. The Sooners have really good depth at linebacker: Stutsman, Jaren Kanak, Kip Lewis, Kobie McKinzie, Samuel Omosigho, Lewis Carter, Phil Picciotti and James Nesta.

The question is who steps up and seizes a job next to Stutsman.

Kanak and Lewis split time last year at the mike linebacker spot. McKinzie earned playing time as well. But the position wasn’t settled.

While Kanak’s year was up and down, it was his first year as a starter and he showed flashes of being a really good player. He has good size and great athleticism. Lewis, who took over for Kanak midway through the season had some really good moments as well, but struggled because of his size. There was a lot of good and this offseason provides another opportunity for development.

Linebacker will be an intriguing position battle to watch this offseason.
