Texas wide receiver Johntay Cook could explode onto the college football scene in 2024.
While much of the offseason attention has centered around Texas’ transfer portal additions, Cook is gearing up to play a significant role in Steve Sarkisian’s offense.
As a true freshman in 2023, Cook sparingly saw the field behind Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell and Jordan Whittington. He recorded eight receptions for 136 yards, averaging 17 yards per reception.
However, the former five-star recruit possesses the speed, catch radius, hands and IQ to catch fans by surprise this season according to former tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders.
Cook was filmed putting in work during spring break with wide receiver trainer Margin Hooks. It’s easy to see why he could be a dangerous weapon for the Longhorns moving forward.
