Vikings not locked into drafting a QB, according to Kwesi Adofo-Mensah

The way free agency has played out for the Minnesota Vikings has them set up to go and get their quarterback of the future. However, after signing Sam Darnold, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said Thursday that he isn’t locked into taking a quarterback.

“We have the flexibility to go either way,” he said.

It’s fair to say that the Vikings took a step backward at the quarterback position, but that doesn’t mean it has to stay that way. The NFL draft is only 42 days away, and they could easily find their quarterback of the future.

It’s not too big of a surprise that Adofo-Mensah said this publicly. It’s never smart to show your cards in a public manner, and head coach Kevin O’Connell was honest about the situation, saying they were in lockstep and believing in Darnold.

“I think he still has [his] best football out in front of him,” Adofo-Mensah said.

The immediate future for the Vikings will be fascinating to watch.
