Another QB trade shakes up the 2024 NFL draft order

The 2024 NFL draft order continues to change as we get under the six-week mark until the featured event in Detroit. Another quarterback trade involving some picks and a young starting quarterback is the latest to alter the order.

The Washington Commanders dealt away starting quarterback Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday. In exchange for Howell, Washington’s fifth-round pick in 2022, the Commanders and Seahawks agreed to an effective pick swap.

The deal:

Washington trades

Howell

2024 fourth-round pick (No. 102)

2024 sixth-round pick (No. 179)

Seattle trades

2024 third-rounder (No. 78)

2024 fifth-rounder (No. 152)

Howell started every game for Washington in 2023, leading the Commanders to a 4-13 record. He led the NFL in pass attempts, interceptions and sacks. Washington has the No. 2 overall pick and is expected to use it on a quarterback.

Howell lands in Seattle, where he is the new backup to veteran Geno Smith.
