Matt Rhule discusses the future of the quarterback

Who will be Nebraska’s starting quarterback in 2024? That was one of many questions head football coach Matt Rhule was asked during Monday morning’s media availability.

The Huskers will head into next month’s spring game with three quarterbacks on the roster: freshmen Dylan Raiola and Danny Kaelin, along with last year’s starter Heinrich Haarberg.

Last year, Nebraska started three quarterbacks: Heinrich Haarberg, Jeff Sims, and Chubba Purdy. Those three threw for a combined 1,631 yards, ten touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.

Sims and Purdy both entered the transfer portal at the conclusion of the 2023 season. Purdy transferred to Nevada, while Sims has not yet found a school while in the portal.

They’re both winners. They’re both competitive guys.”
