This is by no means a safe signing by the Rams. It comes with a lot of upside, but also a lot of risk. White is approaching 30 years old and has suffered two major injuries in the last three seasons: a torn ACL in 2021 and a torn Achilles last season. Achilles tears can sometimes take over a year to recover from and White suffered his in October, so he may not be fully healthy come Week 1.

Even if he is healthy enough to play, there’s no guarantee he’ll be the same player he was pre-injury. Cam Akers hasn’t looked the same since his Achilles tear and White is a position that requires a lot of cutting and quick movements.

What makes this signing particularly risky is the cost. White has a base value of $8.5 million and can earn up to $10 million, which isn’t an insignificant amount. That’s a pretty big commitment from the Rams, even if it’s only for one year.
