Bears land dynamic QB-WR pair in Bucky Brooks’ latest mock draft

The Chicago Bears control the draft for the second straight year. They have the No. 1 overall pick thanks to a brilliant trade made by Ryan Poles last offseason, where they acquired the top selection (among other assets) from the Carolina Panthers.

Last season, the Bears finished 7-10, which marked big-time improvement from the 2022 season (3-14), and it still earned them a top-10 pick. With Chicago selecting ninth overall, they know they will be getting a very good player there — be it a receiver, edge rusher of offensive tackle.

Trading Justin Fields to the Steelers paves the way for the Bears to add the USC standout as their franchise quarterback. Williams steps into an upgraded offensive lineup that should enable him to flourish as a starter from Day 1.

Williams has spent extensive time with Bears brass ahead of his pro day, which has solidified his fate as the No. 1 pick. He’ll get an early start on learning the offense when he visits Halas Hall for his Top 30 visit during the first week of April, as head coach Matt Eberflus indicated install will be a focal point.

There is no surprise what Chicago will do at first overall. That ninth overall pick is much more intriguing because it could be one of a few…
