Twitter reacts to Chiefs signing veteran QB Carson Wentz

The Kansas City Chiefs signed veteran quarterback Carson Wentz on Monday night, adding the seasoned signal-caller to their roster to serve as Patrick Mahomes’ backup in 2024.

Wentz, who the Philadelphia Eagles selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, has bounced around the league since leaving the City of Brotherly Love in 2020, mostly serving in second-string roles.

While he won’t be a threat to Patrick Mahomes on Kansas City’s depth chart, Wentz should be expected to serve as a capable backup should the Super Bowl LVIII MVP need to miss time next season. Wentz becomes the latest in a series of veteran second-stringers to take the field for the Chiefs behind Mahomes, following in the footsteps of Chad Henne, and Blaine Gabbert, who won rings with Kansas City between 2020 and 2023.

Users on social media were pleased to see that Veach signed a capable backup for Mahomes when news of Wentz signing broke on Monday night.
