Offense shines for Auburn football in A-Day victory

The A-Day game is officially behind us, which means that the race to August can officially begin.

It is difficult to truly gauge how great a team will be in its spring game due to the nature of teammates playing against each other. However, Saturday’s spring game at Jordan-Hare Stadium featured several entertaining moments.

Five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman made his presence felt, all four quarterbacks got the chance to prove themselves, and Auburn fans were introduced to future legend Towns McGough.

McGough emerged as the game’s most valuable player for his role in Auburn’s unique spring game format. Down 27-0 to start the game, the Auburn offense relied on the true freshman from Auburn High School to bail them out of trouble on several occasions. McGough connected on 7-of-7 field goals in the game, which included the game-winning 58-yard kick to lift the Auburn offense to a 28-27 A-Day win.

McGough’s astonishing performance is one of many takeaways from Auburn’s A-Day event. Here is a look at the other items of note from Saturday’s game.
