Four-star DL Trent Wilson chooses commits to the Oklahoma Sooners

Coming off one of the biggest defensive line hauls in modern Oklahoma football history, the Sooners would always have their hands full trying to follow up their 2024 class.

There won’t be five defensive line commits for the 2025 recruiting class, but there are talented players like Ka’Mori Moore and Alexander Shieldknight headed to Norman in 2025. The Sooners added another future star to their defensive line in four-star defender Trent Wilson, who committed to Oklahoma Wednesday evening.

A native of Upper Marlboro, Md, Wilson picked Oklahoma over Big Ten powers Ohio State and Penn State and spurned SEC member Texas A&M.

Penn State has been the leader in the clubhouse for a long time, with multiple campus visits. The primary reason is Penn State’s success recruiting Maryland and developing defensive players. Oklahoma offered in January and applied a ton of pressure. They hosted Wilson during the first weekend of March. As one would imagine, things went well and the rest is history. Wilson visited other schools, but Oklahoma emerged as the top school shortly after and a flurry of predictions from recruiting analysts across the country put the writing on the wall.

Wilson stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 270 pounds. He’s explosive, quick, and incredibly athletic. He’s sure to be an interior defensive lineman who will give Zac Alley and this defensive staff some more juice for the middle of the Sooners defensive front.
