One tease at an NFL return from Tom Brady and the sports world is already on its head. That’s typically what happens when the greatest quarterback of all time is talking about playing football again.
More importantly, Brady specifically mentioned his former team, the New England Patriots, before any others, as a team he’d be open to coming back and playing for. Of course, there’s one major caveat in the hypothetical return conversation the legendary quarterback was having in a recent appearance on the “DeepCut Podcast.”
The idea is that Brady would join a playoff contender late in the season, if their starting quarterback went down with an injury. That would create a situation where Brady could step into the fold and potentially lead a team to his eighth Super Bowl victory.
The Patriots are a long ways away from Super Bowl contention, but if Brady joined them from the start, they have the draft capital to put some serious offensive talent around him, assuming they’d be willing to hold off on drafting their quarterback of the future.
