The Denver Broncos recently brought in South Carolina cornerback Marcellas Dial for a pre-draft visit, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.
Dial (6-0, 190 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds and a 10-yard split in 1.55 seconds at the NFL combine. He spent his freshman year playing at Georgia Military College in 2019, then his 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19.
Dial transferred to South Carolina head of the 2021 season. He then spent three seasons with the Gamecocks, totaling 114 tackles, 28 pass breakups, three interceptions, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 36 games. Dial posted career highs in interceptions (three) and pass breakups (12) as a junior in 2022.
After five years at the college level, Dial will now enter the NFL as a 23-year-old rookie set to turn 24 in December. Dial is projected to be a late-round pick or undrafted free agent later this month.
The Broncos do not hold a pick in the seventh round, so barring a trade into the final round, Denver might be considering Dial as an UDFA prospect.
The 2024 NFL draft will be held in Detroit from April 25-27.
