In less than 24 hours, we will finally get to see Ohio State football back in The Horseshoe for the final time until the regular season begins.
There is so much hype surrounding the Buckeyes program, and rightfully so. There aren’t too many question marks with this team heading into the fall, but there are a few. It’s unlikely many of those will get answered on Saturday, with we having to wait until the fall to find out about most.
Regardless, there are more than a few things that I am excited to see transpire on Saturday and here they are.
There has been a lot of talk about who the starting quarterback will be this fall and the spring game will at least give us an idea of who has the leg up in the race. The incumbent contender, Devin Brown, has had his moments, while transfer Will Howard has done the same. “Transfer” true freshman Julian Sayin had his black stripe removed in record time for a quarterback. This unit has a ton of talent, but the pecking order is in the air. Either way, I’m excited to see what this group looks like.
Without a doubt, the biggest buzz coming from these spring practices has been the hype building around true freshman Jeremiah Smith. It seems like every practice he’s making a buzz-worthy play, often for a score. There is little doubt in my mind that he’s going to play early and often, so seeing the next elite receiver in Scarlet and Gray surely would catch all of our attention.
It’s still surreal to think that star safety Caleb Downs will be roaming the Buckeyes defensive backfield…
