In light of a devastating injury a season-ending knee injury to the same knee he injured during the 2015 season for Georgia, Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb has agreed to a restructured contract to lower his base salary leading into the 2024 NFL season.
Chubb originally signed a three-year, $36 million dollar deal in 2021, and was set to make $11.7 million dollars this year. That number will now lower to $6.2 million under the restructured deal, though incentives in the new deal will still allow Chubb to make the same amount should he recreate his numbers from years prior.
Prior to his shortened 2023 season, Chubb was coming off of a career-best season in 2022 where he rushed for 1,525 yards on 302 carries with 12 touchdowns, while also adding 27 catches for 239 yards and a touchdown through the air. He was named a second-team All Pro for his performance. Chubb’s return date for the 2024 season remains up in the air.
