Six Named to Hampshire Honor Society

Mayan Ahanotu

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – DL Mayan Ahanotu, TE Shawn Bowman, TE Victor Konopka, PK Jude McAtamney, OL Reggie Sutton and DB Trevor Yeboah-Kodie all represent Rutgers football on the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society list released this week. The Scarlet Knights have had multiple honorees in 11 of the past 15 years and at least one student-athlete named in each of the last 17 years.

The list is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers, saw action as a starter or significant contributor on the field and competed in their final year of eligibility in 2023 or graduated being at least three years out of high school.


MAYAN AHANOTU

A two-time team captain and three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Ahanotu earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors in 2023. The defensive lineman played in 50 career games, including 45 for Rutgers with 21 starts, and collected 55 tackles with 10.5 for loss. The Tampa, Florida, native was previously named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.

Shawn Bowman

SHAWN BOWMAN

Bowman played in all 13 games last season for the Scarlet Knights, making four starts at tight end. The Bear, Delaware, native was a two-time All-CAA selection at Maine and finished his collegiate career playing in 47 games with 90 receptions for 984 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Victor Konopka

VICTOR KONOPKA

Konopka is back on the 2024 roster a graduate student, having played in 33 games so far at tight end and on special teams. The Kinnelon, New Jersey, native is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

Jude McAtamney

JUDE McATAMNEY

McAtamney played in 25 games the past two seasons at Rutgers after starting off at Chowan. From Derry, Ireland, he booted 76 touchbacks on 166 kickoffs for the Scarlet Knights, including a single-season school record 40 touchbacks (67 percent) in 2023. He made 18 field goals at the collegiate level with a long of 49 yards.

Reggie Sutton

REGGIE SUTTON

Having returned to the field last season and in graduate school, Sutton is a five-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and is set for his seventh year in the program in 2024. The Baltimore, Maryland, native has made 20 career starts on the offensive line, including seven at right tackle last year after overcoming a major injury.
