LSU has now seen five players depart for the transfer portal since the spring window opened on Tuesday.
Christian Brathwaite became the latest on Friday, and the linebacker was the second true freshman to enter the portal that day after defensive back Ryan Yaites. Brathwaite’s decision was first reported by On3’s Matt Zenitz.
A second-year player from Cypress, Texas, who redshirted during his first campaign with the Tigers, he appeared in four regular-season games and the bowl game, totaling three tackles.
He was a reliable contributor on special teams in the games he played in, totaling 78 snaps in those five games.
LSU linebacker Christian Brathwaite is expected to enter the transfer portal, sources tell @247Sports.
The Texas native was a Class of 2023 four-star recruit. Was committed to Baylor at one point before ultimately joining ending up at LSU.https://t.co/3NR1T9l0BJ pic.twitter.com/Zd4f2RYLHU

Brathwaite’s departure will hurt the depth at an already fairly thin linebacker group. However, the Tigers still have West Weeks, Whit Weeks, Greg Penn III and true freshmen Xavier Atkins and Dahvon Keys.
