Running back Rodney Hill commits to Arkansas out of transfer portal

One the Arkansas football team’s positions of strength just became even stronger.

Former Florida State running back Rodney Hill committed to the Razorbacks out of the transfer portal on Friday. Hill was the Seminoles’ third leading rusher last year, going for 190 yards on 50 carries.

Those totals put him him in a similar Isaiah Augustave did for Arkansas last year. Augustave, who has one more years of eligibility than Hill – who has two years remaining – entered the transfer portal earlier in the week.

Hill could compete with Utah transfer Ja’Quinden Jackson and returning back Rashod Dubinion for carries at the top of the Razorbacks’ depth chart, though a spot as the third-team back seems most likely. He will go against freshman Braylen Russell and fifth-year senior Dominique Johnson in that area.

Arkansas is the third team Hill has committed to since he entered the portal following last season. The former four-star recruit chose Florida A&M initially before flipping to Miami (FL) then back to A&M. He told WholeHogSports’ Richard Davenport that Arkansas felt like home.

“Everybody is nice and then it’s just a nice place to live,” Hill said. “I’m from the country so I like country towns so it’s an all around fit for me.”
