Every offseason on Seahawks Twitter is intolerable. This year looks like it’s going to be worse than normal, though. It doesn’t help when people with large megaphones start giving them ideas. In case you have been lucky enough to be living under a rock on Mars the last week, the big controversy surrounding the franchise right now is head coach Mike Macdonald removing some photos from the team facility in Renton of former franchise greats.
According to GM John Schneider they will be replaced by videos soon. However, apparently that’s not good enough for a certain segment of the fanbase who have taken great offense, claiming that Macdonald is trying to erase the legacy of Pete Carroll and the Legion of Boom. Sadly, it sounds like Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman may both be in that crowd. Here’s what Bam Bam shared on Saturday.
A reasonable fan tried assuring Kam that nobody was trying to erase the LOB, but then Richard Sherman’s music hit and he came out swinging his insecurity like a steel chair.
Exhausting. The famed Vikings and Steelers defenses of the 70s, the 1985 Bears and the 2000 Ravens might have a claim, but the Legion of Boom was the greatest defense of all time, easily. That’s why it’s surprising and disappointing to hear this stuff coming from Chancellor, if that is indeed what he meant with his tweet. It’s not entirely clear.
As for Sherman, there’s no mistaking his intention. While he has nothing to prove to anybody it sure seems like he’s determined to keep on fighting these same battles over and over 50 years from now. Based on the replies, it sounds like a lot of Seattle fans are getting tired of it. Here’s how they are responding to the two franchise GOATs.
