Colorado’s second spring football game under head coach Deion Sanders is officially in the books.
Despite the poor weather, Buff Nation showed up strong at Folsom Field on Saturday to get an early glimpse at Coach Prime’s far-from-complete 2024 squad. The Buffs played an intrasquad scrimmage for about an hour before moving into 7-on-7s.
Quarterback Shedeur Sanders completed 10 of his 14 passes for 116 yards, temporary running back Isaiah Hardge stepped up with 65 rushing yards and LaJohntay Wester hauled in three catches for 66 receiving yards. Make of those numbers what you will.
Here are eight standout players from Colorado’s 2024 spring game:
WR LaJohntay Wester
LaJohntay Wester, a transfer from Florida Atlantic, made some early noise when he scored the game’s first touchdown. He finished with a team-high 66 receiving yards.
C Yakiri Walker
Yakiri Walker had an impressive downfield pancake block, epitomizing what Colorado’s coaching staff should be looking for out of its offensive linemen.
LB Jeremiah Brown
Jeremiah Brown forced a fumble and was arguably the most impressive player on Colorado’s defense. “I love his passion for the game,” Deion Sanders said of Brown, who followed Coach Prime from Jackson State to Boulder.
Brown finished with a team-high seven total tackles.
LB Tristan Marois
