Six Longhorns among Matt Miller’s best draft fits, steals

Texas had a fantastic showing throughout the 2024 NFL draft.

The Longhorns saw 11 players selected throughout the seven-round draft, the most in school history. It’s a testament to the incredible job head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have done with developing players since taking over.

ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller recently revealed his top 100 favorite fits/steals from the draft. Six Longhorns appeared on his ranking, led by wide receiver Xavier Worthy at No. 4 overall. Many feel Worthy, who ran the fastest 40-yard dash in NFL Combine history, is a great fit with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Here’s a look at the six Longhorns that appeared on Miller’s ranking.

Xavier Worthy (WR)

Miller listed Xavier Worthy No. 4 on his ranking. The Kansas City Chiefs traded up to pick No. 28 in the first round to land the fastest person ever timed at the NFL Combine.

Adonai Mitchell (WR)

Former Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell could be the steal of this draft class. Many NFL mock drafts projected Mitchell to be taken off the board late in the first round, but the Colts landed him in the second round with the No. 52 pick. Miller views Mitchell’s fit with Indianapolis as his No. 7 best pick of the draft.

Byron Murphy (DT)

Defensive tackle Byron Murphy was Texas’ top draft pick as he was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the No. 16 overall pick. While Miller favors Worthy/Mitchell on his ranking, he still thinks highly of Murphy’s fit with the Seahawks as he ranked the pick No. 13.
