Brahmas Lose Jalen Dalton, Cut Gavin Heslop & John Yarbrough

Now that all the Coaches have been named, what's next for the XFL?

The San Antonio Brahmas continue to lose talented players to injury. Defensive Tackle Jalen Dalton has now been placed on the injured reserve list, which is a tough blow to their front seven.

Jalen Dalton started in four games for the Brahmas this year, playing in all seven. He posted 11 tackles and two sacks, making an impact in the trenches which was much needed throughout the year.

According to PFF, Dalton was above average, finishing with a 70.1 Defensive Grade. Dalton was spoken highly of by Defensive Coordinator Will Reed, as one of the players who showed up with a desire to be the best he can be from day to day.

With Dalton now done for the UFL season, San Antonio will need others to step up defensively. This is something the team has been used to this year, so it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Releases: John Yarbrough & Gavin Heslop

The Brahmas have let OT John Yarbrough go, which is a bit surprising. John had just gotten healthy, having been on the IR for most of the year. He was a key piece to Wade Phillips’ offense with A.J. Smith in 2023 with the Roughnecks.

This week, John played in his first game of the year, totaling just two snaps.

The same goes for DB Gavin Heslop. He was hurt for most of the season, making his UFL debut in week six. Between the last two games, Heslop played 98 snaps, allowing six receptions on 13 targets. He posted four tackles on the year.

Final Thoughts

The San Antonio Brahmas will have to bring in some reinforcements with these latest losses. General Manager Marc Lillibridge continues to sign NFL-Caliber talent, and one would expect that trend to continue.
