It’s a matchup which might not have two of the NFL’s elite teams, but it’s a game which will generate major headlines. USC star Caleb Williams and LSU star Jayden Daniels will meet on the NFL gridiron in Week 8 of the 2024 season. Caleb Williams will lead the Chicago Bears into the DMV to face Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders on Oct. 27. There are plenty of details connected to this clash, so let’s go through some of the bigger ones as an immediate response to the revelation of the 2024 NFL schedule:

Heisman winners playing each other isn’t rare these days, given that there are more interconference games in the NFL than ever before. However, what’s special about this clash of Heisman winners is that it comes in each of their rookie seasons. It is usually the case that one Heisman winner graduates or goes to the NFL one year before the next Heisman winner, but Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels won Heismans against the other in each of the past two seasons before going to the NFL together. That adds some spice to this meeting in Washington.

The top two picks in the 2024 NFL draft go against each other. Last year, C.J. Stroud faced Bryce Young in a game which did not live up to the hype. Let’s see about Bears-Commanders this year.

The Commanders did not pick J.J. McCarthy at No. 2, but they do have Kliff Kingsbury as offensive coordinator. Kingsbury will try to outscore Caleb in this game. It adds to the intrigue of Chicago-Washington in late October.
