ESPN released its first Football Power Index rankings and data with the start of the college gridiron schedule now less than three months away. The FPI is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s future performance.
The list is headlined by the Georgia Bulldogs, the first of 11 Southeastern Conference teams among the nation’s top 25. The league’s representation in the rankings was notably bolstered by the addition of the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners — both of whom landed in the top 10.
