College Football Playoff Projections for 2024

College Football Playoff Projections for 2024

The 2024 college football season is still a few months away, but with teams in the midst of summer workouts, it’s so close we can taste it. College football enters a brave new world with new-look power conferences once the latest rounds of realignment become official this summer.

The SEC, Big Ten, ACC and Big 12 each welcome new programs, creating a whole new dynamic on the college football scene.

Also changing this year is the College Football Playoff, which is expanding from four teams to 12. The playoff will feature the five highest-rated conference champions and seven at-large bids. With the demise of the Pac-12, that fifth conference champion will likely come from the Group of Five, now six with the demotion of the Pac-12 remnants.

How the playoff committee decides to distribute at-large bids will be anyone’s guess. As Notre Dame continues to be a program without a conference, there’s a good chance it’ll factor into the field, but can only receive an at-large bid.

It’s the dawn of a new era in college football, so let’s take a stab at projecting the first 12-team College Football Playoff.
