Patriots 53-man roster predictions, following 2024 minicamp

The New England Patriots finished up their spring practices with mandatory minicamp last week. They’ve now earned themselves a small break before training camp is officially underway in late July.

That’ll be when the pads come on and real football begins.

The Patriots don’t have the most talented roster in the NFL, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, but it’s still going to be a difficult process to cut things down to 53 players. There’s a far greater number of players who could make a case for a roster spot, but they’ll have to prove it on the practice field in the summer.

Today, we’re projecting the 53-man roster for the Patriots when it’s all said and done. Cole Strange was not included on this list because he could potentially miss half of the season with a knee injury. So it’s more likely he’ll be put on the shelf, which should open up an opportunity for another player.

Here’s what the Patriots’ final roster could look like:

Drake Maye is the shiny, new quarterback in the building, but Jacoby Brissett is the hardened veteran who has been through it all and seen nearly everything at the NFL level. He was brought in to serve as the starter and eventually a backup whenever Maye is up to speed.

The Patriots used the No. 3 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft on Drake Maye to secure their future at the quarterback position. Maye already looks and acts the part of a franchise quarterback. His success will ultimately make or break the new regime in New England.

Joe Milton III gets the edge over Bailey Zappe on pure upside alone. The Patriots already know what they’re getting with Zappe, and it hasn’t been something that has worked consistently enough. Milton is a big…
