As we have seen over the last few months, multiple Ohio State former players and coaches have gotten the chance to throw out a first pitch at a Major League Baseball game.
We saw C.J. Stroud make a very good throw, as did basketball head coach Jake Diebler, while Marvin Harrison Jr. made a solid attempt. However, what former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy did in his attempt for the Minnesota Twins was much worse. Yes, obviously throwing a baseball compared to a football is much different, but at least you’d expect a quarterback to be on target.
McCarthy wasn’t, which continues to fuel the idea that he may have been overdrafted, being selected with the No. 10 pick by the Minnesota Vikings. Check out social media’s reaction to the horrible first pitch.
McCarthy’s throw
Not great is putting it lightly, terrible is more in line.
Much more accurate statement
This first pitch rivals some of the worst ever, which includes 50 Cent’s terrible attempt with the Mets.
Who would have planned that?
Not sure what McCarthy was planning, but the throw surely wasn’t it.
No handoffs in baseball
One of McCarthy’s best traits at Michigan was handing the ball off, but he can’t do that with a first pitch.
0-for-1
Not the best way to impress your new fan base.
“Got away from him a little”
More like got away from him a lot.
Can’t scrub all of social media
The internet never forgets.
A sign to come?
It’s fairly easy to lob one in to a wide open catcher, but here we are.
