The offseason has reached its end as we enter the dead period right before the start of training camp for the Cleveland Browns. While we may have a month to wait, there is much to stew on from the announcement of in-season “Hard Knocks,” to the inevitable return of running back Nick Chubb, and more.
One piece to stew on is ESPN’s new article where they graded every team’s offseason. And for the Cleveland Browns, they gave them pretty high marks! While the Browns spent most of their energy re-signing their own standout players from a year ago, there were some upgrades made to the roster.
This was capped off with the 2024 NFL draft, where Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr. and guard Zak Zinter headlined their haul of rookies. The extensions of general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski put a bow on their offseason.

First off, Walder named the Browns’ biggest move this offseason as their trade for former first round receiver Jerry Jeudy (and his subsequent extension). Here is what Walder had to say on the move:
“Though Jeudy has not lived up to his pre-draft promise, he still offers upside beyond the production he has shown. In 2021 and 2022, he recorded open scores of 79 and 80, indicating route-running ability that could unlock a higher level of play, especially for someone entering his age-25 season. And it’s not like the Browns are giving him superstar compensation: His $17.5 million APY lags far behind the price of stars.”

Walder continued to heap praise upon Jeudy, stating how he thinks we may “look back on this trade and contract as a bargain for Cleveland…” Ending his sermon on Jeudy, Walder adds:
“I think it’s a great bet for a team that needed another receiver, especially one with Jeudy’s upside.”
