The NHL’s Florida Panthers are Stanley Cup champions for the first time in their franchise’s history after beating the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 of the Finals, 2-1. Among the fans who watched live Monday night as the Panthers secured the title in front of their home crowd in Sunrise, Fla. were many of the hometown Miami Dolphins.
Florida jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals before dropping three consecutive games to extend the series to seven games. With their backs against the wall, the Panthers scored first in Game 7 and then took their 2-1 lead in the second period when Sam Reinhart buried a shot.
