Nebraska has a long and storied history with the College Football Hall of Fame. The Hall was founded in 1951 by the National Football Federation.
The facility was slated to be built on the campus of Rutgers University, home of the first college football game, but ultimately opened in Kings Mills, OH. That location closed in 1992 and relocated to South Bend, IN, where it operated from 1995 to 2012. In 2014, the Hall would move for a second time when it opened its new state-of-the-art facility in Atlanta, GA.
Nebraska ranks 13th all-time in the number of players inducted, with 20 selections. Notre Dame leads all schools with 48 players inducted.
The Husker’s first inductee was tackle Ed Weir, who was part of the inaugural class of 1951. The most recent player who entered the Hall was offensive tackle Zach Wiegert in 2022.
