Not every day will have the typical highlight plays and must-see moments in practice. Saturday wasn’t one of those times for the Houston Texans.
C.J. Stroud started off hot, connecting three times with Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs for first-down gains. The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year didn’t miss a beat in the play-action pass, while the former Bills star showed why a seventh consecutive 1,000-yard season could be in the works.
Then came the final 30 minutes.
Then came the overreactions.
Stroud, who last season threw five interceptions, overshot an open Tank Dell and saw the ball land in Eric Murray’s hands for a turnover. Things only continued to go downhill as the next three drives all ended with three-and-outs for the first-team offense.
Training camp is a roller coaster. There will be rises, drops, twists, turns and even a few loops to keep fans and coaches wondering what the season could look like long-term. On Saturday, the Texans experienced all that in a two-hour span.
Sunday is a rest day, so all should be quiet on Houston’s front. Before that, here are some of the top takeaways from Saturday’s practice.
