Seven Terps Selected To Shrine Bowl 1000 Watchlist

TAMPA, FL – Seven Maryland football players were named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list, which consists of the best 1,000 players throughout all of college football who are currently all-star game eligible for the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl and the 2025 NFL Draft class. 

Defensive lineman Tommy Akingbesote, wide receiver Tai Felton, running back Roman Hemby, linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II, defensive back Glendon Miller, wide receiver Kaden Prather and defensive back Dante Trader Jr. were all named to the list. 

Last year, four Terps participated in the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl in offensive lineman Gottlieb Ayedze, defensive back Ja’Quan Sheppard, defensive back Tarheeb Still and quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. Still was eventually selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2024 NFL Draft. 

Akingbesote has played in 32 games across three seasons on the defensive line. He has 45 career tackles, three sacks and three tackles for loss. 

Felton, a 2023 Third-Team All-Big Ten selection, has totaled 76 receptions for 1,083 yards and eight touchdowns across 34 career games played. He started all 13 games last season and led the team with six receiving touchdowns. His 15.1 average yards per catch in 2023 was good for fifth in the Big Ten.

Hemby earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors in both 2023 and in 2022, when he finished third among all FBS freshmen in yards from scrimmage (1,287). The redshirt junior has 347 career carries for 1,740 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. A versatile back, Hemby also has 72 career receptions for 648 yards and four scores.
