Thoughts on Ohio State coach Ryan Day’s comments at Big Ten media days

On Tuesday it was the unofficial start of the Big Ten football season and Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day and players talked at Big Ten media days.

Along with Jack Sawyer, Denzel Burke and Emeka Egbuka, they all answered questions about the upcoming season. Clearly, we were all excited to hear Day talk with this season setting up to be one of the biggest in recent memory for the Buckeyes.

Day was asked about many different things including the hiring of Chip Kelly, the multiple player electing to return for another season, and much more. Find out below my thought’s on his comments during Big Ten media days.

Day on the returning players

As we may have known, there was one player who started this trend, Jack Sawyer. Day noted that he spoke with his father Lyle and said “they have unfinished business here,” and that they want to “leave a legacy behind.” The fact that this was player led was impressive and sets the Buckeyes up for a big year.

Day on Burke’s potential

Already viewed as one of the best cornerbacks in the country, Day believes the sky is the limit for Burke. He believes that “he has a chance to be the best corner in America next season.” That very well could be the case with plenty of accolades heading his way.

Day on Egbuka

It wasn’t just the play on the field that impressed day, Egbuka’s leadership has stood out “since he walked in the building as a freshman.” Day thinks that we will see him return to big-time production due to his ankle injury, but they’re “seeing it now.” As the unquestioned leader of the group, we all expect a big final season from Egbuka and to hear his name called early in the NFL draft.
