Training Camp Preview 2024: Offensive Line


The Miami offensive line is a mixture of every item off the proverbial buffet – long-time veterans, bright-eyed rookies, high draft picks and hidden gems. The room features plenty of variety. At the top of that list is competition, and the next six weeks will help formulate the group tasked with creating space for one of the NFL’s most-talented skill groups.

With the second-most starting offensive line combinations in the NFL for the last two years, better luck on the injury front would go a long way for the Dolphins. Rather than bank on less attrition, Miami went after depth this offseason by using a second-round pick on Houston tackle Patrick Paul, and signing the game’s most athletic center in Aaron Brewer, as well as a versatile lineman from Philadelphia in Jack Driscoll.

Speaking of athleticism, the group is built around arguably the most fleet-footed tackle tandem in football with Terron Armstead and Austin Jackson. With two of the quickest get-offs, second-level control and quick processing in pass protection, Miami has the perimeter well secured. That’s before we get to the massive Paul and his 90th percentile height, weight and 10-split among all tackles at the Scouting Combine, or Kendall Lamm and his 104 career games played.

Paul was Pro Football Focus’ top-graded tackle in pass protection last year across college football and no NFL team had a better collective three-man pass protection grade than the trio of Armstead, Jackson and Lamm.
