Cowboys have uncanny bad luck with knee injuries over last 12 months

The worst was confirmed late on Sunday. Sam Williams, the third-year edge rusher who was competing for a key role in the Dallas Cowboys defensive line rotation, has been lost for the season. The Ole Miss product crumpled in a heap during a special teams drill during the club’s fourth practice of 2024 training camp and was taken off the field on a cart in Oxnard, CA. He was taken for an MRI, which revealed both an ACL and an MCL tear, leaving Williams out for the season.

While the Pacific Ocean breeze keeps thing comfortable for the club in Oxnard, a far cry from the scorching summer heat in Texas, the Cowboys still find themselves in AC Hell. For the fifth time in less than 12 months, Dallas has lost a player to an ACL tear. It’s an uncanny string of bad luck that now includes two injuries on the Oxnard practice fields with one happening back home at The Star in Frisco.

Here’s a look at the five players who have suffered the injury and the details of each.

Stephens was already translating his practice hype to game film during the preseason when his rookie year was cut short in the same preseason game against the Seahawks as Overshown. And like Overshown, it was also a left knee injury.

The Louisiana product was a WR, but too slow and prepped for the draft process to move to tight end and it was working beautifully.

He has returned this year and avoiding being placed on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform list to start camp.
