Colts fifth-round rookie Anthony Gould keeps making plays in camp

In a deep wide receiver class, Oregon State wideout Anthony Gould got a little lost in the shuffle in the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite blazing speed and two seasons with excellent productivity down the field for the Beavers, as well as being a premium punt return prospect, the 5-foot-8 Gould fell to the Colts in the fifth round.

So far, Gould is playing like someone who could have been drafted much higher. The speedy dynamo is the talk of Colts camp with his explosive playmaking as both a receiver and a return man.

“He’s made some big plays,” said Indianapolis offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter via Colts Wire, “and he’s had some opportunities that just haven’t quite gotten there, whether it’s just a hair off with the throw or a hair off with some good coverage. Anthony has shown us that he’s going to have the ability to make big plays.”

He’s getting excellent reviews from those on the Colts camp beat, too.

Gould faces a climb to earn significant playing time as a rookie on offense in a strong WR room, but he appears to be showing more than enough to seize the Colts’ return specialist job. If he continues to thrive on offense in the preseason, Gould could emerge as a great Day 3 find for the Colts and GM Chris Ballard.
