Lee, LVE mentoring Clark; Friday costly at camp

Friday saw several Cowboys- including defensive superstar Micah Parsons- sitting out or going down due to various maladies. In this week-ending edition of News and Notes, we’ll run through who’s dealing with what injuries. Dak Prescott weighed in on the chances of coming to terms with the team, but he also brought a special guest to the practice field, to perhaps remind the front office of who he’s doing all this for. And the quarterback shared an update on what CeeDee Lamb told him just this week about his potential return.

Meanwhile, Trevon Diggs doesn’t think much of a recent ESPN best-of list, Brandon Aubrey talks about how his soccer skills could soon be coming back into play for the Cowboys, Hunter Luepke gets a big vote of confidence from the man signing the checks, and a favorite offensive lineman from the recent past stops by for a visit in Oxnard. A promising linebacker talent is still working his way back from a frightening medical condition, and he’s getting guidance from two of the club’s all-time best. And are the Cowboys trying too hard to shove Trey Lance into a Dak Prescott-shaped hole? All that, plus which Cowboys alum is next in line for Canton, and just how popular are America’s Team around the world? Just ask Google.

Though Jerry Jones wouldn’t comment on any progress with his two superstars’ contracts, Prescott told reporters, “It can be done. There’s ways to make everything work for both ways.” The quarterback also shared that he has spoken with Lamb this week, and his receiver said he was “wanting to get back” with the team.

The injury has kept Vaughn off the field for the past two days and could potentially hinder his efforts at making the 53-man roster. The development comes after word that the running back had been taking some snaps as a slot wide receiver, perhaps an effort by the Cowboys to maximize the electrifying skill set Vaughn displayed as a playmaker at Kansas State.

Friday was a costly day at Cowboys training camp. Tyler Guyton missed practice, while Luke Schoonmaker and Israel Mukuamu left the field early with undisclosed injuries. Parsons had some elbow soreness that kept him off to the side, and Eric Kendricks was dealing with some lower back tightness.
