New Orleans Saints tight end Dallin Holker was regarded as a receiving tight end coming out of Colorado State, but not much of a blocker. He acknowledged this as an appropriate description and is trying to shift the narrative.
Dennis Allen previously called Holker out on this. He’s seen Holker catch passes, but now he wants to see the rookie develop as a blocker. Holker pointed to his college experience as part of the reason he has earned this analysis: “Past offenses have always been asked to do more in the pass game in the receiving end.”
He isn’t content with this though. Holker plainly laid out his desires, saying he “wants to be the best tight end possible, so to be that he has to be able to do every thing.”
Holker credited tight ends coach and teammate Foster Moreau for giving him tips to improve this aspect of his game.
Holker has referenced blocking is a mindset, and he’ll have to alter his mindset. Whereas Holker is used to being asked to primarily be a receiving threat, blocking will likely be an integral part of whether or not he makes the roster.
