Tarheeb Still continues to make splash plays

Tarheeb Still raises eyebrows in offseason program

The Chargers have a competition for the starting slot corner spot, and rookie Tarheeb Still continues to make his case after a strong showing at practice on Thursday.

In the final team period, Still took an interception for a walk-off touchdown. While covering wide receiver Derius Davis, Still read quarterback Max Duggan’s pass and jumped in front to snag the football.

“Tarheeb made a nice play on that,” head coach Jim Harbaugh said after practice. “Max threw it a little bit inside and Tarheeb made a heck of a good play.”

It should come as no surprise that Still has been a ballhawk up to this point in the process. The former Maryland product finished his final collegiate season with five picks, which was tied for the fifth-most in the FBS.

If Still can continue to stack up productive days, he might fend off Ja’Sir Taylor for the starting nickel corner spot when the season rolls around.
