Cincinnati Bengals rookie wide receiver Jermaine Burton returned to practice at training camp on Sunday, allowing fans to exhale.
Burton had seemingly avoided a serious injury just a few days earlier, yet missed a practice anyway.
As it turns out, the team was merely taking precautions with its likely breakout rookie. Burton was back out there on Sunday, running individual drills and otherwise at what looked like full speed.

That puts the third-rounder back on track to potentially get more snaps than anyone in the third spot behind Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins next season.
Burton has had a fantastic camp and looks every bit like a player who, indeed, shouldn’t have fallen nearly as far as he did during the draft. He’s easily one of the first-year players standing out in camp right now.
While Chase undergoes a “hold-in” at camp, Burton has even benefitted from the close help the veteran has provided at all turns, too.
Names like Mike Gesicki and training camp breakout Andrei Iosivas will get chances as the third option in the passing attack, too. But Burton’s current trajectory has him likely playing a big role next season, so fans have to love seeing the injury bug avoided.
