Joe Burrow explains why he’s learning piano to help injury rehab

Joe Burrow enters a big fifth season in the NFL this fall as the former LSU Heisman-winning quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals looks to reestablish himself as one of the top players in the league following an injury-plagued 2023 season.

But Burrow has reportedly found ways to keep busy this offseason as he underwent the rehabilitation process, and at a press conference during training camp last week, he said that he has started learning the piano.

While you don’t need an ulterior motive to pick up a hobby, Burrow said he has one, and it’s related to football. He said that he hoped it would help his dexterity as he recovers from injury, per On3.

“I’ve always wanted to learn. I thought it helped my dexterity, coming back from injury,” Burrow said. “So I thought it was a good time to learn.”

However, he’s still early in the process and continues to learn the ropes.

“I got three songs that I think I can play right now pretty confidently,” Burrow said. “So we’re still working on that.”

After suffering a calf strain during training camp last year, Burrow appeared limited last season before a torn ligament in his wrist ended his season for good, causing him to miss the final seven games in 2023.

He said he hopes to play some in the preseason this time around, and perhaps his work on the keys helped his wrist get back into playing condition.
